Once again, it’s been nearly a month since my last blog update for my WIP status check. I had originally planned to write this update in mid-January, but several personal events kept me from writing the updates – my youngest busted his tooth (we got the all-clear from the dentist and his mouth should be healthy until his permanent teeth come in), we celebrated several family birthdays, and celebrated the life of my husband’s grandmother after her death earlier this month.
This month, I still made progress this month, and I met my goal to get my next pattern to the tech editor and I’ve started cutting for my second sample for that quilt!! I also received the 3 quilts I sent off to the longarmer. I also finished up the #trailbound24 watercolor series from Max Romey (@trailboundsketches). This project reignited the curiosity around watercolors, and a sense of experimentation in crafting!
However, I did not even touch my blog backlog…
In the first couple of weeks in February, I hope to complete my second sample for my next quilt pattern! I also hope to set a pattern release date for that pattern and start getting all of my ducks in a row for a pattern release in late February or early March.
Though I didn’t touch my blog backlog last month, I don’t plan to this round. Instead, I have a major overhaul planned for my website and would like to figure out how to best do that. I want to spend my energy figuring out how to switch website providers rather than clearing a backlog.
The Lists
I’m going to list my projects by Quilting, Garments, and Other. For each new bog post, I’ll simply copy the list and update the status, highlighting the changes with orange text and progress that has been made. These lists are not in priority order, they’re just lists. I get to make progress in any order I choose 🤪
In case you’re not familiar, you can use the order given here to follow along as I make progress through each project.
Quilting projects typically progress in the following order: fabric and pattern selection, cutting, piecing, basting, quilting, and binding.
While I’m new to garment sewing, Ill use the following status updates for now, since I think they’re mostly right: fabric and pattern selection, pattern printing and cutting, fabric cutting, sewing.I also have some other crafty projects that I want to get out of my WIP pile. These are pretty random projects so they each get their own status update. I’ll do my best to make it make sense 😂.

Garments
- Wrap top – fabric acquired, need to choose pattern (probably Hannah top/dress from By Hand London)
- T-shirt upcycle – fabric chosen, need to pick a free t-shirt pattern
- Assorted mending projects
- mended 3 pairs of pants (2 high-quality mends, one passable)
- removed 2 purses from my mending pile. They both had peeling fake leather and I determined that I would not be able to repair either. I hate throwing stuff away, but I also don’t need to keep it.
- At least one jeans mend in December (i lost track)
Other
- Spoon – I started carving a spoon a few years ago and never finished
- a crocheted project – i got halfway through a project years ago and the yarn has been taunting me since then. I want to use and enjoy something made out of the yarn rather than be haunted by it. I need to frog the project and pick a new one since i don’t remember what i was working on
- my blog backlog – I have a backlog of blogs that are in “draft” form with almost no work don on them. They either need to be written or need to get out of the queue.
- A secret writing project
- A website re-design – I have some changes in mind and I need to work out exactly how I hope to accomplish those and what my goals are.
