I haven’t written an update to this since January!
While I haven’t done much blogging, I have been doing a lot of things and making a lot of progress. Around the time I last posted an update, I went back to work at my corporate job, so I spend the spring and summer juggling working, being home with my kiddos, enjoying a trip to Ireland to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversery , gardening, sewing, traveling to see family, and so much more.
I have made progress on my goal to knock out my WIP pile and I’ve finished up a number of small (and large) projects as well as doing some behind-the-scenes work (though not as much as I really shoudl be doing).
Here’s a quick run-down of some of the things I’ve finished since I last posted:
- Put binding on 3 quilts I had longarmed
- Published an article in Make Modern Magazine!
- Moved my website host
- Cleared out my blog backlog
- Published a pattern
- finished a wall hanging
And here’s the more detailed run-down of what I’ve worked on below!
The Lists
I’m going to list my projects by Quilting, Garments, and Other. For each new bog post, I’ll simply copy the list and update the status, highlighting the changes with orange text and progress that has been made. These lists are not in priority order, they’re just lists. I get to make progress in any order I choose 🤪

In case you’re not familiar, you can use the order given here to follow along as I make progress through each project.
Quilting projects typically progress in the following order: fabric and pattern selection, cutting, piecing, basting, quilting, and binding.
While I’m new to garment sewing, Ill use the following status updates for now, since I think they’re mostly right: fabric and pattern selection, pattern printing and cutting, fabric cutting, sewing.I also have some other crafty projects that I want to get out of my WIP pile. These are pretty random projects so they each get their own status update. I’ll do my best to make it make sense 😂.

- Assorted mending projects – recently i finished up a mend on a pair of shoes. I replaced the ties and cleaned the leather on a pair of sandals. I’m glad to have them in use again!
Other
- Spoon – I started carving a spoon a few years ago and never finished
- a crocheted project – i got halfway through a project years ago and the yarn has been taunting me since then. I chose this shawl pattern from Chrochet Highway and am about halfway through the project by row count.
- my blog backlog – I’m calling this DONE! I cleaned out my blog draft backlog. I commit to keeping my backlog off my blog drafts and in a seperate notes place.

- A secret writing project – DONE! I had an article published in Make Modern Magazine in July! I’d love it if you go check it out. You might be abel to find it on Libby or get a copy/subscritption here:
- A website re-design – this is definitely in the works. I switched from Squarespace to WordPress for my website, and that required at least some re-design. I still have a lot of redesign that I’d like to do, and I want to do more blogging. I hope to do more of that the rest of this year.
